“You were made for this” ~ YL
Last week, I was able to experience something completely incredible! I went to Sharptop Cove in Jasper, Georgia for Young Life camp, and definitely experienced the best week of my life!
Young Life is an international program/youth group which helps children build/start their relationships with God, all while developing friends that you will know forever. If you can, I recommend get involved in a Young Life program near you, whether it is as a student or a leader.
Sharptop Cove rests in the mountains, giving you the most beautiful camp you can imagine. It was absolutely breathtaking to go from the flat lands of Louisiana to never-ending mountains. With no phones for a week, you could spend time with God, old friends, and new friends.
Activities included a pool, hot tub, rope swing into the lake, a slide into the lake, a zip line into the lake, rock climbing wall, a ropes course, mountain biking, archery tag, and having a good, old time with everyone. Whether you wanted to set your ENO up under a tree, shop for some really cool merchandise, or have quiet time, you could never be bored.
The randomness of camp—– oh so random. I’m pretty sure this was the funniest thing I saw all week, and I loved every minute of it.
Every night, we would have this thing called ‘Club.’ This is where we would sing as loud as we could, dance our hearts out, watch a funny skit, and hear the good Word of the Lord.
I took this picture the day we went mountain biking, which was really an experience for the books. The funny thing is, all the people in my cabin were from the same town as me, even some from the same school. In the beginning of the week, I had only talked to one out of the eleven girls in my cabin. By the end of the week, I felt like I had known them forever.
We climbed Sharptop Mountain, which was 2,583 feet. I have never been hiking in my life until then, but the view was so rewarding! It really made me take in everything that God had created, and how it was all so beautiful! On a clear day, which was not that day, we could have seen the skyline of downtown Atlanta.
WESTERN NIGHT!!!!! Dancing the night away is so much fun! I loved square dancing, meeting new people, and taking cute pictures!
Thank you for reading! Thank you Sharptop Cove for giving me the best week of my life! Tweet me anything you would like to see on my blog this summer! I have sooo many ideas planned!! :))
